It is now official. Expect Breaking Bad to have another 16 episodes.

It’s unclear when the network will air the installments, or if they’ll be divided into two seasons, but creator Vince Gilligan – who made it clear he wants an end date for his series – has released the following statement:

It’s a funny irony – I’d hate to know the date of my own last day on earth, but I’m delighted to know what Walter White’s will be (episodically speaking). This is a great gift to me and to my wonderful writers. It’s knowledge which will allow us to properly build our story to a satisfying conclusion. Now, if we don’t manage to pull that off, we’ve got no one to blame but ourselves.

“Breaking Bad has been a dream job these past four years. Working with the best cast and crew in television has no doubt spoiled me for future projects. I’m lucky to get to work with them on sixteen more episodes, and I will always be grateful to both AMC and Sony Television, who from the beginning, believed in our show and supported me creatively and professionally. We have been able to take risks with ‘Breaking Bad’ which would not have been possible on other networks.

It is now confirmed that we will see Suits season 2 next summer!

The network announced today that it’s renewed Suits for a second season, as the Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams-driven drama has delivered the third-highest ratings – in every key demographic – for a freshman series in network history. It will air its 2011 finale on September 8.

No official word yet, but USA is also reportedly very close to picking up Necessary Roughness, too.

Some fans felt that they were betrayed by The Killing. Imagine waiting for a whole season only to be left tricked on the season finale. Let’s see what can showrunner Veena Sud say on this matter.

The murderer was not unveiled. Holder turned out to have a hidden, evil agenda. For a show whose tagline at the start of the season asked “Who Killed Rosie Larson,” viewers were left reeling by what many feel was a manipulative, unsatisfactory conclusion.

What does Sud have to say about this?

“We never said you’ll get closure at the end of season one,” the producer told Alan Sepinwall of Hit Fix. “We said from the very beginning this is the anti-cop cop show. It’s a show where nothing is what it seems, so throw out expectations… This season is 13 days in a high-profile murder investigation. And for the most part, most high-profile investigations don’t get solved in 13 days.”

Will we actually learn who killed Rosie on season two? Yes, Sud says.

“I can tell you there will be a resolution to this investigation in season two and there will also be the emergence of another case in season 2, but I can’t tell you specifically where either of those happen.”

As for the shocking reveal concerning Holder, Sud says it was always planned and that her team aimed to “create a sense and a perception of he’s one thing, then the revelation, ‘Oh no, he’s not,’ and then another twist on that idea.”

Here is a great news for J.J. Abrams and Lost fanatics like me.

We just learned that Fox has given the green light to four new shows and has dropped five from its schedule next season. One of those projects that has the green light, is Alcatraz, based on one of the most notorious prisons ever to be built.

The drama developed by J.J. Abrams, will focus on a group of guards, convicts and workers who disappear from the famed jail without a trace in the 1960’s, only to re-appear in the present day. Upon their return, it becomes up to the FBI and a lone female cop to track down the group and figure out what happened to them all of those years ago.

This show is so promising. Fox did a great job adding Alcatraz on its lineup. I hope this series will last for several seasons. What’s your take?

At this moment, there is still no confirmation as to the season 8 renewal of House. And one of the major issues is the budget, specifically the license fee that Fox has to pay House’s producer Universal Media Studios.
Fox would like to cut the current license fee by 20% to $5 million per episode. But Universal Media Studios says it cannot produce House in its current form for $5 million an episode, so it has been unwilling to accept a reduced license fee as it faces the possibility to have to deficit finance a show in its eighth season. The network is not budging, either, especially with ratings on the decline this season. Says a person close to the negotiations:
“Both sides have drawn hard lines and are sticking to them. Middle ground is incredibly small, it is a very tiny dot.”
So what does this mean for fans? To cut costs, Universal Media Studios has been looking at cast cuts. The studio is negotiating with Robert Sean Leonard, Omar Epps, and Lisa Edelstein, whose deals are up at the end of this season. Deadline is reporting that all three, who are at about $175,000 an episode, have been asked to agree to both doing fewer episodes next season (from 24 to 18) and getting a salary reduction. The studio had been playing hardball, even threatening to drop Epps or Edelstein.
But Leonard, Epps, and Edelstein all want to return to the show for what is perceived to be its final season and a compromise is expected to be reached, possibly by the end of the week. Other stars like Hugh Laurie and Olivia Wilde already have deals in place for next season.
So what are your thoughts about this news?
