We reported yesterday that John Carroll Lynch has already left Body of Proof, now it is confirmed that two others will not return on season 3.

According to TV Line, Nicholas Bishop and Sonja Sohn, also won’t be returning for the ABC procedural’s upcoming third season.

Bishop co-starred as medico-legal detective Peter Dunlop, while Sohn played homicide investigator Sam Baker (and partner to Lynch’s Bud Morris.)

I wonder what will happen on the third season of Body of Proof.

What did we see on Body of Proof episode 12?

Well, “Shades of Blue”  featured Megan’s team going up against the blue wall and Peter forced to choose sides.

Curtis may have been a bit paranoid but that didn’t make him wrong. The stakes were raised because this week’s murder victim was an undercover cop. That meant every detail of the case would be scrutinized and the stress levels rose considerably.

Peter felt trapped between his old team and his new one. Meeks had been his partner for six years and was the man who saved him when he’d been shot. Peter believed in his gut that his ex-partner hadn’t committed murder.

Megan didn’t understand that kind of blind loyalty. She’s a doctor and a scientist. Evidence is the only partner she completely trusts. Those differing perspectives drove a wedge between these new partners.

I was a little surprised that Kate came down so hard on Peter but I kind of liked it when she told him:

You’re either on our team or you’re not and frankly I’m OK with whatever choice you make but you’re going to make it. Now.

That certainly drew the line of their relationship. She’s his boss. She needed the job done and if Peter’s not on board he needed to step aside.

Although my one question was whether he should have been on the case at all. Peter was investigating his ex-partner. Wouldn’t that be considered a conflict of interest? Shouldn’t another investigator been put on the case?

The dynamic between Megan’s team and the homicide squad was tense from the start. It seemed that Kate found a quick way to make it worse by reminding the Captain that his people should be sure to follow procedure. No one appreciates being told how to supervise their people and never less so than when nerves are already frayed.

Megan was going over board with the mandatory drug testing and I couldn’t help but laugh when they handed her what Ethan referred to as the “big gulp” container of group urine. That seemed like such a boys club response.

I’m glad they found the murderer but the end left plenty of plot holes. We were left to assume that Detective Vasquez uncovered that Lopez was a dirty cop but we never got any details. And I found it hard to believe that an experienced detective wouldn’t know to watch out for the slide on a Baretta.

We were spared any scenes with Dani or Megan’s family and I was grateful for the break. And I also enjoyed meeting Bud’s very pregnant wife. So many times on TV we’re shown pregnancy as being joyous and wonderful. It was nice to see a character who simply felt overstressed by all of its scary realities.

Any thoughts about episode 12 of Body of Proof?

What did Body of Proof season 2 episode 2 offer us? ”Hunting Party” showed as a tragic death and a merry go round of suspects on Body of Proof this week, as there certainly were a lot of people who could have wanted Julie dead. This was a tough family to marry in to.

TV Fanatic: The fact that she didn’t tell her husband she was pregnant struck me as odd. It seemed like there wasn’t a lot of trust there if she told the business manager first and asked for an audit of her husband’s finances. Talk about taking the joy out of the occasion.

And I loved how Martin’s daughter knew exactly how much she and her brother would be getting from her father’s estate, both with and without a new heir.

Megan was certainly giving Peter a lot of ribbing about his new girlfriend. Of course, he never copped to whether she was indeed his girlfriend or just a one-night stand who gave him a ride in the morning. Was Megan just having fun with him or did it bother her a little? I couldn’t quite tell.

But then when Peter started to poke back he definitely took it a step too far when he brought up Megan’s insecurities about Lacey. The best part was that he knew he took it too far and awkwardly tried to make it better. Unfortunately once something is said, you really can’t take it back.

Lacey and Megan were kind of cute in this episode. It’s nice to watch Megan make extra time to spend with her daughter, but please tell me she wasn’t serious about buying her those shoes. No 14-year old should be wearing five inch heels and it’s a mothers job to say so.

Then there’s Kate, who acted unusually guilty after pulling Megan from the case. It seemed like she kept looking to Peter for reassurance but he was busy playing Switzerland.

The most pathetic moment was the killer begging Martin for forgiveness because he was so very, very sorry. Honestly, you purposefully killed the man’s pregnant wife to cover your theft and now you’re apologizing? You’ve got to be kidding!

Apparently Martin felt the same way because he responded with a bullet to the chest. I didn’t see that one coming, but I could understand the sentiment. With a really good attorney, maybe he’ll even get out of prison.
