According to reports, Israeli actor Alon Aboutboul will play the role of an evil mad scientist on Dark Knight Rises.

The still above shows Alon Aboutboul’s appearance on Fringe.

Batman-on-Film points out this article at Xnet that claims Aboutboul — a 45-year-old actor whose stateside film credits include Body of Lies, Munich, The Order and Rambo III — will portray “a particularly evil mad scientist.” The site claims that the casting news was apparently confirmed in a tweet by Aboutboul’s wife, director Shir Bilya. (Warner Bros. had not responded to IGN’s request for confirmation or denial at time of publish.)

Obviously, many fanboys have jumped to the conclusion that this evil mad scientist could be the long-rumored Professor Hugo Strange. While there’s no Bat-fan more eager than me to have Hugo Strange in the film, I don’t think that’s the scientist Aboutboul is said to be playing. He could just as easily be involved with Bane and the Venom that fuels him, or perhaps he works for Ra’s Al Ghul. He could also be an entirely original creation.

Aboutboul has appeared on TV series including Fringe (as Dr. Armand Silva in the episode “Immortality”), Castle, NCIS and The Mentalist. His overseas film credits include his award-winning turns in Out of the Blue and Nina’s Tragedies.

Any idea on the identity of the said scientist?

The Dark Knight Rises production will start anytime though no date was officially released, and according to reports, Christian Bale will have lots of solo scene which the fans should watch out.

But according to The Times of India, The Dark Knight Rises will start filming not later than May 6 in Jodhpur, India. Nolan’s production team will only consist of 15 crew members and one actor, title star Christian Bale.

The plot of TDKR is still a mystery so it’s impossible to know what Nolan and Bale will be shooting in India. Nolan has previously made several references to wanting to wrap up the storyline begun in Batman Begins, which could be referring to Bruce Wayne’s (Bale) journey to becoming Batman. In Batman Begins, Wayne travels to the Far East and becomes a thief—ironically, he is arrested for stealing boxes of goods from Wayne Industries, the company he owns—to learn how criminals think and act. While in prison, he is recruited by Ra’s al Ghul, as Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), to join the League of Shadows and learn the ways of the warrior. Given Nolan’s desire to wrap up the storyline, it would make sense then if the India scene showed more of Wayne’s journey to becoming Batman as a way to tie the movies together.

Dark Knight Rises will hit the big screens on July 20, 2012.

Warner Bros. made it official that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will join The Dark Knight Rises. What role will they play? Read below.

Cotillard will play Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who wants to help Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic activities.

The two actors recently worked with Dark Knight Rises director Christopher Nolan in his critically acclaimed sci-fi drama Inception.

“When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience,” Nolan said in a statement. “I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.”

The film also stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine.

When a director visits a place, there are lots of possible reason for such. He maybe looking for a good place to shoot the film or he just want to get some set inspiration. So what do you think?

Superhero Hype points out this tweet from the Los Angeles Times’s Hero Complex blog that says Bat-director Christopher Nolan is currently scouting locations in Asia for The Dark Knight Rises.

So this naturally makes us wonder what might be bring Batman back to Asia. Batman Begins saw Bruce Wayne imprisoned and then studying with Ra’s Al Ghul in the Asian kingdom of Bhutan. The Dark Knight brought Batman to Hong Kong to capture the mob’s money launderer, Lau.

Might The Dark Knight Rises see the introduction of Ra’s daughter Talia Al Ghul taking over her father’s organization? Or maybe Batman following up on any loose ends related to the money laundering case in TDK (but Lau’s dead, remember)?

Or perhaps Nolan has a very different reason for scouting locations there. You may recall that Nolan based The Narrows in Gotham City on Hong Kong’s walled city of Kowloon. Maybe he’s looking for some inspiration for another such Gotham setting?

There are lots of news on who’s in on Dark Knight Rises. But this news from IGN features who’s out on Batman 3.

When The Dark Knight first came out, there was some speculation as to the status of Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Did he survive that fall at the end of the film? It seemed unlikely, but you know fanboys…

Now MTV has spoken to Two-Face actor Aaron Eckhart, who has put to rest any speculation that Dent may have lived to toss his coin another day.

“[Director] Chris [Nolan] and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us,” Eckhart explains. “I said, ‘Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I’m in the next Batman. And Chris said, ‘Yes?’ I said, ‘Am I?’ He looked at me and he said, ‘No.'”

Eckhart says he was “heartbroken … But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on.”

But hey, look on the bright side: All you Rachel Dawes fans may still have a chance…

Update: Meanwhile, Batman on Film’s man on the inside tells the site that The Dark Knight Rises will begin pre-production in the beginning of March, with filming currently slated for May. Also, the source indicates that the previously rumored New Orleans will not be a production locale for the shoot. Sorry Killer Croc aficionados!
