“We’re certainly going to see a little more of that hard darker side of him (Patrick Jane),” Heller said. “That’s one of Simon Baker’s great assets as an actor, he can play both charming and dark at the same time. The show is not going to turn into a much darker show, but that character will show more of those colors. We’re getting closer to the meat of what the show is about.”

“The trick is going to be – and this is coming – bringing the audience along and making them second guess themselves and ask, ‘Is that him? Is that him?’ Red John ultimately is just a man – whenever you see the great criminals reduced to the flesh it’s sort of disappointing. I have two seasons or so to make it come true. Red Rover refers to a childhood game in which two sides line up and differnt people within each line are called to the opposing side. If they break chain they stay on their current team, if not, the person called over is to join the opposing line which called him/her. This could be foreshadowing to some sort of betrayl of either a red john accomplice or of a CBI agent joining red johns forces or revealing important information.
Episode 23 will air on May 10.

Kenny Johnson is coming to The Mentalist season 4 to play a man from Lisbon’s past.
Johnson has been tapped to play Greg Taybeck, the high school boyfriend and ex-fiancé of Lisbon (Robin Tunney), TVGuide.com has learned exclusively. When Greg becomes involved in one of the CBI’s cases, Lisbon is a bit rattled.
“I think it takes her longer to get to the bottom of the case because it’s hard for her to see the thing clearly,” creator and executive producer Bruno Heller tells us. “But it’s her understanding of him and his character that helps solve the case.”
Ultimately, the reunion will give Lisbon a moment to reflect on her life choices. “She ran away [from that relationship] to find a different life,” Heller says. “So, she stops and has to reassess her life and look at the paths not taken. Her boyfriend has kids, and she doesn’t. So, how does she feel about that?
“It’s about when you get to that point in your life where realize, ‘You know what? This is the path I’m on. There actually aren’t any crossroads ahead where I can take a different path. This is it,’” Heller continues. “The joys and regrets of that is essentially what [this episode] is about.”

Emmanuelle Chriqui is coming to The Mentalist season 4.
The Entourage stunner will be the new love interest for Jane.
The actress has been cast in the recurring role of Loraliei Martins, a mysterious new woman in Jane’s life who may be too good to be true.
Chriqui is set to debut in the CBS drama’s May 17 finale and then return for at least five episodes next season.
