Sarah Clarke is headed to Covert Affairs season 3 to replace Rebecca Creskoff.

As we reported last month, Creskoff was cast to play Lena Smith in Season 3, but she has now dropped out due to a scheduling conflict. Production is currently underway on the season premiere, but Creskoff had not yet shot any scenes.

Clarke will now play Lena, a legendary CIA operative running her own division who will become an important figure in Annie’s career. But there may be more to Lena than meets the eye.

Rebecca Creskoff is coming to Covert Affairs season 3.

According to TV Guide, Rebecca will debut on the season three premiere as Lena Smith, a veteran CIA operative who will serve as a new mentor for Piper Perabo’s Annie.

Smith will oversee her own division within the agency and act as the antithesis to Joan, mentoring Annie with a more laid back, friendly approach. But will there be more to this character than meets the eye?

Any idea about her character?

Breaking news for Covert Affairs fans. The final six episodes of season 2 will begin to run on November 1.

And at least one of those installments will be shot on location in Berlin and focus on Arthur. Here’s how:

German actress Nina Kronjager will guest star on the spy-themed series as Elsa Von Hagen, an ex-girlfriend of Arthur’s from his long-ago past… who disappeared, Ben-style, from his life.

“It wouldn’t be [flashbacks], but [her] coming out of the past,” producer Matt Corman told TV Guide earlier this month about Else’s re-appearance. “He was stationed there right before the Wall fell, so it’s got kind of a Cold War feel, but still contemporary. It’s a great episode.”

We have no doubt it will be.

What can you say on this news? What are your expectations for the last six episodes of this season?

Some people might say that leaving no cliffhanger in a finale will jeopardize the same. Well, this is not true in “World Leader Pretend” of Covert Affairs.

TV Fanatic: Yes, Annie finally told her sister about the two-year old secret she had been keeping, but it was Danielle’s reaction that was the most interesting development.

I know we are supposed to side with Annie because she’s the main character, but it was hard not to be with Danielle every step of the way as she packed up her sister’s boxes. If you’re keeping it a secret to protect your sister, then why are you telling her two years later?

You either never bring her into the fold or you tell her right away. Does Annie no longer care about protecting Danielle? Or was her entire reasoning for keeping the secret a lie?

Sure, Danielle sort of apologizing for blowing up earlier made for a nice sentimental moment between the sisters, but she really should have continued to be furious. In the end, though, she’s smart in sticking with her decision to kick Annie out of the house. How on Earth is it safe to be living in the same home as a CIA agent? And with two young kids? It’s time to move on, Annie.

It will be nice to see Annie out on her own. I just hope this won’t mean she loses the relationship she has with Danielle and the children. The space is necessary in order to keep them all safe, but too much space will prevent many of the most satisfying moments on the series.

While Danielle finally finding out took up most of my emotional energy, the mission of the week expended the rest of it. Shen, the Chinese scientist that Annie helped defect to the U.S., was great throughout. Even as he was suffering through an 80% death needle to the shoulder, he took the time to wish Annie good luck with her sister. What a stand-up guy.

The mission also filled up the necessary action sequence quota for a finale, beginning with the suspenseful extraction. As Annie and Shen made their way through the hotel, the kitchen, the back halls, and into the van, I thought something terrible was going to go down at every step of the way. Fortunately, they made it out unscathed. Unfortunately, the soup they ate much earlier was what ended up killing Shen.

And to end the episode, we were witnesses to a fantastic foot race through Chinatown, which finished with an all-out fist fight between Annie and the Big Bad of the week. Kudos to Annie for continuing to grow as a physical threat out in the field, as demonstrated here by besting the dude all by her lonesome.

Auggie’s new girlfriend will be recurring on Covert Affairs season 2.

Devin Kelley, who portrayed Vonda Wysocki on Fox’s The Chicago Code, has landed a role that will make many women jealous: she’ll recur on the aforementioned USA hit as Auggie’s new girlfriend.

The actress will portray Parker, a Peace Corps volunteer and the younger sister of Billy, one of the men killed during the mission that blinded Christopher Gorham’s character.

“We thought that would be an interesting territory to explore,” producer Chris Ord told TV Guide of settling Auggie down with a woman he describes as “definitely Auggie’s type,” adding: “We’re kind of excited to see what it would mean for Auggie to be in a relationship.”

What do you think of this role?

Let the truth be revealed! That’s what transpired on episode 9 of Covert Affairs titled “Sad Professor.”

TV Fanatic: Danielle became increasingly more suspicious about her sister’s crazy work habits, while Annie seemed to finally come to grips with the idea of telling her sweet sister the truth.

Whether it was Danielle’s early suspicion and car chase with the super spy shades on, or her inability to get through to anyone at the Smithsonian about needing to find “ANN-NEE WALK-ERRR,” Anne Dudek was terrific this week.

And in a nice bit of storytelling, the Covert Affairs team did a wonderful job coming up with an A plot that would nicely coincide with Danielle’s suspicions. The parallels between Annie’s relationship to her sister, and Professor Mark to his wife Safia, were enough to make Annie seriously think about telling Danielle the truth about her occupation.

Safia was absolutely torn apart when Annie told her that her husband was in the CIA. Annie saw, in that moment, what her sister might feel if she ever found out. The look on Piper Perabo’s face, and the gasp she let out after Annie showed Safia the safe deposit box, was nothing short of superb.

Did Auggie explaining to Annie that eventually he told his brother about his position at the CIA convince her to tell Danielle? The final moments of “Sad Professor” made it seem that way, but we will won’t know for sure until next week’s summer finale… and maybe not even then.

As great as Christopher Gorham was in “Half A World Away,” he really is in his element in an episode such as this. Scenes in which Auggie gets to give Danielle excuses for Annie by describing their jobs at the Smithsonian almost exactly the way he would describe a position in the CIA are both brilliant and hilarious.

While the longer running story of Annie and her sister progressed nicely, the episodic plot was just as interesting. There were a couple of twists and turns, as Annie had to console the grieving wife… then the wife became the culprit… then Annie got her to help solve the case.

Arthur got to give a heartfelt speech about only 103 CIA agents having been killed in action, Jai got to go on a mission with an attractive young woman in her underwear, and Joan made a big decision to bring Professor Mark’s killers to justice.

The Covert Affairs brought us back to Americas in episode 8 titled “Welcome to the Occupation.” But as much as I want to go back to the normal scene, I didn’t enjoy this episode fully.

TV Fanatic: That is not to say that this chapter didn’t have its own charm. Although Auggie was sidelined, she finally had some major growth as a character. Her answering Ben’s proposal of kite surfing and relaxation on the beach with an I think I’ll pass was proof enough that this is a different girl than the one we met at the beginning of the series, or even at the end of season one.

Annie wasn’t just choosing her new doctor boyfriend over Ben. She was choosing to be rational, which is a sure sign of maturation. I’m sure Danielle and especially Dr. Weiss are happy with the decision because it means she will be back in town sooner. Then again, the more time she spends with them, the sooner they will have to figure out that something strange is going on.  How many times can the mention of her long work hours add up before somebody close finally realizes she doesn’t work at a museum?

Before Annie made the aforementioned decision to kick Ben to the curb, she and Joan were joined by him on a special mission in Mexico. It all paled in excitement and scope to Auggie’s adventures from a week ago, but there were still things to enjoy.

Case and point: the DPD’s ability to think two steps ahead of terrorist leader Delgado by putting fake news footage of Annie up on the internet. As Delgado grew suspicious, I continued to scream at the television, “how did you not think he would catch on to this?!?!” I congratulate Joan, Auggie and whoever else came up with the plan for fooling both the terrorists and me in the process.

It was also fun to finally see Joan get down and dirty in the field. Well not so much dirty, but she did hit a bunch of dudes in their final escape. As she and her gal pal disarmed all the bad guys, why did not a single civilian attempt to help them?   know I would also be hiding under the table, but not a one of them was brave enough to kick somebody? Step your game up, hostages!

The situation came to a nice conclusion with a clever twist on the end, as the VP of the company ended up being the one who hired the terrorists.  I guess he wasn’t being so brave when he volunteered to be the one to go with Delgado up to the roof.
