I think it is now time to end our speculations and expectations as Whedon already clarified that there will bo no Wasp or Scarlet in The Avengers. The only woman avenger that we will be seeing is Black Widow (played by Scarlett Johansson).
“It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger”, director Joss Whedon told The Sunday Herald-Sun (via Moviehole). “But (Black Widow) will not be the only female character [in the film].”
Whedon didn’t elaborate on who the other women in the film will be, but rumors spread recently that Alice Eve (who bowed out of playing Emma Frost in X-Men: First Class) may be up for a villain role in The Avengers now instead .
“The role, albeit minor, would serve to tie together another of their properties; since the villainous character is most notably featured in Thor comic story lines,” according to Comic Book Movie. “Though the role has yet to be given a name, fans of the character should undoubtedly be able to pinpoint who it is.”
Given her blond, beautiful looks, the English actress sure seems like a dead ringer for Thor femme fatale The Enchantress.

We are all anticipating for a Spiderman reboot. Andrew Garfield will be the next Spiderman, however who will play the role of his girlfriend?
Who will play Spider-Man’s cherry pop-tart in the upcoming Marvel/Sony reboot? A list of actresses has emerged, all of whom are reportedly up for the role of Peter Parker’s love interest — who is not, apparently, going to be the character of Mary Jane Watson.
According to Heat Vision, “starting today and heading into the weekend, select actresses are meeting with [director] Marc Webb and new Spidey actor Andrew Garfield.”
Interestingly, the site says that the character these starlets are up for is not MJ (played by Kirsten Dunst in the previous trilogy), but instead perhaps Gwen Stacy (played by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3) or another new character altogether.
The names revealed include Imogen Poots (the Fright Night remake), Ophelia Lovibond (Nowhere Boy), Lily Collins (The Blind Side), Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Emma Roberts (niece of Julia, living proof of the power of nepotism) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World). The latter actress was up for the part but has since fallen out of the running.
Now that we have given you a list, who do you prefer? Below is the picture of Lily Collins.

Until now we are still playing a guessing game on how X-men: First Class will be. Of course, there are lots of piecemeal information but sometimes it is so hard to distinguish which one is true and not. We really have a lot of questions. Luckily, here is producer Bryan Singer to the rescue answering some of them.
Singer spoke with AICN about the film, seeking to clarify what exactly is being done with everyone’s favorite band of merry mutants. First off, the film is set in the 1960s. JFK is the president, the Civil Rights movement is in full swing, and “there is a spirit of a hopeful future that was prevalent in that time.” Charles Xavier and the man who will become Magneto — Erik Lehnsherr — meet and dream of a future where man and mutant can live together in peace. And we all know how that works out…

Here is a summary of what to expect on the upcoming X-Men movie:

  • The two leads will be in their late twenties.
  • Xavier will not be in his wheelchair, but we will learn how he gets there.
  • He’ll also still have hair.
  • Xavier and Magneto will create the X-Men together.
  • This is not based on the comic book called First Class but rather is “a new beginning” for the series.
  • Director Matthew Vaughn is “technologically inspired” by the James Bond tech of the ’60s.
  • The costumes will be more “comic bookish” than in previous films.
  • Neither Cyclops nor Marvel Girl will show up, but Cyke’s brother Havoc will.
  • Kevin Bacon will play Sebastian Shaw and, yes, the Hellfire Club will figure into the mix.
  • Filming begins with Xavier at Oxford University.
  • The movie will have a much more international feel than previous installments. (The shoot will take place in England and the U.S.) Other locations will include Russia (though they won’t actually film there).
  • There are other characters in the film who have not been revealed yet.

It is really hard to serve two masters at the same time and in Ryan Reynolds case, playing Deadpool and Green Lantern at the same time poses a lot of problems as well!
The Deadpool movie seemed to be getting off on the right foot with Ryan Reynolds starring, Zombieland scribes Rhett Rheese and Paul Wernick penning the script, and Robert Rodriguez in talks to direct the film.
Now it appears that the Green Lantern stint for Reynolds may end up silencing the merc with a mouth completely. Deadpool comic creator Rob Liefeld took to his Twitter account and hinted about the film’s future troubles in a few tweets:
“Warner Bros. just trying to protect their investment. They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch.”
“Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari Ryan.”
“Reynolds is the new Will Smith, if FOX can’t maximize this window of opportunity with this star, this character, that script=MASSV FAIL”
Of course, Warner Bros. wants to keep Reynolds locked down for future Green Lantern installments, but if Fox can’t capitalize on Reynolds fast enough and get the ball rolling on Deadpool then he might get shut out from shooting the film next year. Last week Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix scribe Michael Goldenberg was brought aboard to write the script for the Green Lantern sequel.
Rumors are also swirling around that Warner Bros. is looking to turn GL into a trilogy. If Reynolds has to shoot Green Lantern sequels back-to-back next year then he won’t have any time in his schedule for Deadpool. Green Lantern is currently in post-production and is scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release.
If there will be trouble on this casting by Reynolds, he should give up one. What do you think is best for him, Deadpool or Green Lantern?

There are lots of Marvel news available online but I can assure you that this Marvel shown below is different from a typical comic superhero. J.J. Abrams will produce the movie adaptation of Boilerplate: History’s Mechanical Marvel, based on Paul Guinan’s and Anina Bennet’s graphic novel about a robot in the 19th Century.
The book, published last year by Abrams Image, tells the robot’s story by inserting the character into pictures drawn in the style of the age.
So, “Meet Boilerplate, the world’s first robot soldier – not in a present-day military lab or a science-fiction movie, but in the past, during one of the most fascinating periods of U.S. history.
Designed by Professor Archibald Campion in 1893 as a prototype, for the self-proclaimed purpose of “preventing the deaths of men in the conflicts of nations,” Boilerplate charged into combat alongside such notables as Teddy Roosevelt and Lawrence of Arabia.
Campion and his robot also circled the planet with the U.S. Navy, trekked to the South Pole, made silent movies, and hobnobbed with the likes of Mark Twain and Nikola Tesla.”
Impressive robot, indeed. And with Abrams on board, we have no doubt that this will be something interesting to watch.
Now let us talk about Abrams upcoming plans.
Next project which could be expected from J.J. Abrams is Super 8 which has been kept under wraps. He is also working on an untitled Star Trek sequel as producer and having Mission: Impossible IV and Samurai Jack lining up next.

After the introduction of the cast of The Avengers, I can say that Thor 5-minute trailer is one of the best on Comic-Con 2010.
The epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans as punishment. Once here, Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, in Thor, Chris Hemsworth portrays the title character with Tom Hiddleston in the role of Thor’s brother Loki, and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Additionally, the studio has cast Academy Award® winning actor Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Renee Russo as Frigga, Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun, Josh Dallas as Fandral, Jaimie Alexander as Sif, Idris Elba as Heimdall, as well as Colm Feore, Kat Dennings and award-winning actor Stellan Skarsgård.

Most Marvel fans were really disappointed in not seeing X-men: First Class cast in the San Diego Comic-Con but don’t worry because director Matthew Vaughn is still assembling his cast in anticipation of the August start of production. Twilight fans will be happy to know that, even though Taylor Lautner won’t be joining the cast, at least one member of the Twilight family will be suiting up as an X-Man. According to Deadline, Edi Gathegi, who played the vampire Laurent in the Twilight Saga movies, has signed on to play the mutant Darwin in X-Men: First Class.
Who is Darwin?
Darwin is one of the lesser-known mutants in the X-Men universe, making his debut only four years ago in the comic books on which the movie is based. Unlike most mutants who have a single power or ability, Darwin’s power of “reactive evolution” grants him different powers depending upon the circumstances he finds himself in. If burned, his mutant power kicks in and makes his skin invulnerable to fire; if drowned, he grows gills; if exposed to the vacuum of space, his body adapts to withstand the heat and temperature pressures; and so on.
Gathegi joins a cast that already includes James McAvoy as Prof. X, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Caleb Landry Jones as Banshee, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and Lucas Till as Havok. Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are producing.

Got sick of The Avengers cast rumors? Well, those rumors were no longer rumors because The Avengers cast and director were finally revealed on Comic-Con.

Joss Whedon is directing The Avengers as he made the announcement at Comic-Con saying:
“It’s not an official thing, I think because Marvel couldn’t afford a press release. So can we make that an official thing? I’m directing The Avengers!” So, there you go, one mystery finally solved!
But that’s not all! Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige brought the entire crew of the movie down to San Diego: Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Clark Gregg as Coulson, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner.

“I’m still writing an outline. I’m still in that stage. I will say the thing I love about it, the thing that made me excited to do it, is how counterintuitive it is. These people shouldn’t be in the same room – and that is the very definition of family.”

After Iron Man 2, here comes Thor with its new movie stills.
Last week, the L.A. Times revealed the first image of Odin (played by Anthony Hopkins) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston), two of the Norse gods in Marvel Studios’ next comic book adaptation, the 3-D superhero fantasy epic Thor. Now, the Times has offered up another new still from Thor and this one is epic, showing six of the mighty Norse gods in a gleaming golden throne room flanked by a phalanx of Asgardian — denizens of Asgard, home of the Norse gods — warriors.
The new still gives us another look at Loki, this time wearing his characteristic horned helmet, as well as Odin and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), and reveals three new gods for the first time. Standing next to Loki is Frigga (Rene Russo), Odin’s wife, who raised Thor even though he was not her own. On the opposite side stand Hogun and Fandral (Tadanobu Asano and Josh Dallas), two members of “The Warrior’s Three,” Thor’s best friends and comrades-in-arms.

For die-hard comic book fans, this image is proof that director Kenneth Branagh is staying true to the Marvel comic books on which the movie is based. Those “in the know” will recognize that Odin’s throne is actually the hilt of the mighty Sword of Doom, and Odin’s ravens, Hugin (Thought) and Munin (Memory), are even perched on either side of the throne. Just don’t ask us to tell you which bird is which.
Thor was written by Ashley Edward Miller, Zack Stentz, Don Payne and Mark Protosevich. Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson and Idris Elba also star.
