Honestly, I am not that impressed on this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory. Yes, there are funny parts but I found them not a TBBT type of fan. Maybe because there is less Sheldon-Penny showdown, or because I am not a fan of Leonard hooking up with an old rich lady.

While the plot was about as stale and traditional as they come, it was rather humorous seeing Sheldon trying to pimp out Leonard in order to get funding for the latest scientific gizmos. The overnight bag complete with baby oil, prophylactics and Viagra’s more virile older brother actually made me chuckle, as did Sheldon’s oddly proud reaction to Leonard actually having done the deed.

I’ve only recently discovered the brilliance that is Arrested Development, so it was a nice surprise to see Jessica Walter as the rich and raunchy benefactor trying to grab a romp with Leonard in exchange for funding.

She was a less caustic version of Mrs. Bluth, but still reveled in making other people uncomfortable and I enjoyed Raj’s reactions to her at the fundraiser. Her diss at Howard’s lack of a Ph.D. would have made Sheldon proud.

Penny wasn’t particularly on the forefront, but her responses to Sheldon’s barbs were dead on, especially his “complimentary” observation that her expertise would serve Leonard well in his particular predicament. And as much as I believe her interactions with Sheldon are the lifeblood of this series, I’m beginning to enjoy Sheldon’s cyber chats with Amy, as well.  While he and Penny function hilariously as oil and water, something about the like-mindedness of both he and Amy seems to also work.

On the past episodes, the Sheldon-Penny face off was inexistent. Or if it was, the same didn’t mark on my mind. But on “The Thespian Catalyst,” I can honestly say that this is the greatest tandem ever! The acting lesson between the two of them is extremely hilarious.

Of course, there was the requisite condescension on the part of Sheldon, and a brief glimpse of the humorous eye twitch that first made its appearance when Penny presented him with Leonard Nimoy’s DNA (I guess it only comes out when Spock is part of the story), but it didn’t seem to bring the funny as it usually does.

On the other hand, Raj stole the show with his escalating fantasies of something unforeseen taking Howard out of the picture so that he could take over Howard’s duties of fulfilling Bernadette’s needs.

I’m finding more and more that Raj’s solo efforts are becoming the highlight of each episode. While the writers clearly write the wittiest, or at least the best attempts at a one-liner, for Sheldon, Raj’s laid-back deadpan reactions are the highlight for me these days.

The Bollywood-tinged dance sequence at the end was enough to warrant the future consideration of a Raj spinoff.

And finally, Raj can now speak in front of a girl without being drunk. But we should remember that his two conversations with Bernadette occurred on his own daydreams.

So what do you think of this episode?

Before, the threat for Howard when it comes to Bernadette was Rick Fox. Now, it is Raj!

But don’t worry, remember that Raj has limitations and I’m so excited how will this spoiler turn out on the next episode. Read the TV Guide spoiler below.

Unlike Glenn, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) isn’t actively pursuing Bernadette — at least not yet. But his feelings toward her enter a gray area on Thursday’s episode when he fantasizes about his best friend’s gal after she calls him a “hottie.”

“I guess the only way people fantasize about me is if I compliment them,” Rauch jokes. “[The hottie comment] ignites his fantasies. ‘Oh, she compliments me; therefore, I can fantasize about her.’ Maybe no girl has ever complimented him before.”

Contrary to assumption, there are no geeky elements — like, say, a Princess Leia get-up — in Raj’s fantasy, Rauch assures, but rather an “extremely theatrical” Bollywood ode to his roots. And for a guy who’s a selective mute around the ladies, it’s quite romantic as well.

So what do you think about this development?

I think the February 10 episode of The Big Bang Theory will surely be a bang! Why? Read below the spoilers brought to us by TV Guide.

On the said episode, Leonard shares a kiss with a wealthy benefactor to the physics department — played by Jessica Walter, age 70. “The amount of making out I do on this show is ridiculous,” says Johnny, 35. He’s not kidding.

Next is the return of Raj’s sister. Aarti Mann returns as Raj’s sister Priya, who’ll now be dating Leonard after their previous one-night stand. “Raj is not going to be very happy about that,” says actor Kunal Nayyar. “I forgave Leonard [after they first hooked up] because she didn’t want [something serious], but now…”

In other romantic developments, Bernadette finally lays down the law with Howard (Simon Helberg) and demands that he choose between her and his overbearing mom. “That’s a big moment to see this guy who’s a mama’s boy have to make that decision,” says Simon. “I bet he’s going to mess it up.” And is Jim Parsons (Sheldon) jealous that Leonard’s getting so much lovin’?  Hardly. “I got Christine Baranski,” says the new Golden Globe winner, “so it’s only fair to share the hot women kisses.”

So what do you think of this episode? I think it will really be fun!

Welcome back TBBT fans! Also, welcome back TBBT cast. We got a full cast on the 13th episode and I can say the addition of Rick Fox adds impact on the said episode! TV Fanatic has something to say below.

This was really an ensemble episode. Each character played to their strengths on “The Love Car Displacement,” as the gang took a trip to a science symposium where all but Penny, obviously, was serving on a panel.  How could anything but hilarity not ensue?

Note to the writers: this is exactly the right level at which Sheldon should always function. He was still at his superior, anal-retentive best, but mostly restrained, which was a welcome change. I like him most when he’s operating at more of a dull roar than a full-on thunderous boom.

Even Amy Farrah-Fowler was used to just the right extent, particularly in her scenes with Penny.  It’s highly amusing to hear Amy broach sexual topics with a naively inquisitive curiosity bubbling right under the surface of her stoic composure, whereas Sheldon typically has no interest in conversing on the subject in any shape or form.  For two people so much alike, that is one area where they differ greatly.

The brilliance of the show, as I’ve said before, is when Penny and Sheldon interact, but it’s even striking a chord each time Penny and Amy are thrown together, such as tonight when Amy latched onto Penny as her “bestie.”  Kaley Cuoco is a very gifted comedienne, and her reactions to the nuttiness of the supposedly genius minds around her are always my favorite parts of every episode.

The game of revolving bunkmates felt a little borrowed, yet still yielded a few laughs.  Most importantly, though, it provided Leonard and Penny with a chance to almost reunite – or so Leonard thought.  I have a feeling this was merely a momentary lapse and won’t lead to anything in the near future, most likely not even being referenced again.

Howard’s feelings of inadequacy were to be expected after learning Bernadette once dated a guy who looks an awful lot like Rick Fox, and I felt myself yawning through most of that part, until it brought about the funniest segment of the night with the euphemism-laden exchanges at the panel.  Raj and Amy’s retorts to the increasingly awkward expressions by Howard and Bernie had me rolling.

Sheldon’s confusion over what they were actually talking about was hilarious. Jim Parson’s facial expressions alone are enough to warrant additional Emmy-love.

Back to Raj for a moment.  It’s been three years. Any reason why he can’t start talking in front of the ladies without the need for alcohol yet?  Sure, sometimes it’s still funny, but that gag is starting to show some wear.

I know this news will make millions of people happy. What is it? Read below.

CBS made a major announcement at today’s Critic’s Association press tour panel: The Big Bang Theory will return next season… and the season after that… and the season after that.

In an unprecedented move, the network has picked up this sitcom through 2013-14.

The Big Bang Theory moved to Thursday nights this season and has not experienced any drop-off in popularity. It averages around 14 million viewers/week.

The series returns with a new episode on January 20. So do you like this news?

Personally, The Big Bang Theory’s first episode this year did not have that usual bang!

I mean, except for Raj’s 99cents Fart App, other jokes are weak. Leonard and Sheldon are supposed to be the stars of this episode with their “who’s the boss now” issue, but surprisingly, Raj and Howard are my favorites this episode.

TV Fanatic has something to say. The rest of “The Bus Pants Utilization” had the usual moments of hilarity, but the biggest laugh out loud moment for me was the exchange between Raj and Howard about linked mansions in Raj’s dream.  They continue to find funny references to make light of this curious bromance.  Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar play off each other well, and are often the funniest of these offbeat characters..

Let’s face it, though. This may as well be called The Jim Parsons Show. For the most part, everyone else typically revolves around, and reacts to, Sheldon’s character. This was no different.

Sheldon spent most of his time, as usual, serving as irritant to his pals, but my favorite Sheldon moments are when he’s interacting with Penny.  The contrast in their characters is like sporting an outfit with two plaids so starkly different that they somehow strike a harmonious chord.  She really brings out the colors in his character like no other, and wI as disappointed there was very little of that tonight. But I did find their back and forth over the shoe app idea amusing.

Is it possible for Sheldon to be even more over-the-top than usual?  It sure seemed like it to me this week.  Not that he isn’t funny, absolutely he is, but I’m worried that with all the much-deserved accolades lathered upon Parsons, the writers might be starting to layer it on a bit thick.

I’m getting inklings of his character becoming more and more bombastic, akin to John Lithgow in the later seasons of 3rd Rock From The Sun.  Not necessarily a bad thing, I guess, but I wouldn’t complain if Parsons played with just a hint more restraint, because it’s getting to the point where I can’t help but wonder what in the world keeps the others from putting him and his “bus pants” on a one-way charter bound for Texas.

This was my first introduction to a theremin.  I had no idea that was an actual instrument and was used to create the original Star Trek theme. The things I learn about sci-fi history watching this show.  Parsons seemed to be getting the hang of it, playing the Trek theme mostly on key, and to adequate comedic effect.

Obviously, this week’s episode of The Big Bang Theory is all about Amy being horny and Sheldon feeling the jealousy. So what happened? TV Fanatic shares their observation below.

And that’s not necessarily Mayim Bialik’s fault.  When she’s given good lines, her dead pan delivery sometimes works.  The real flaw is with the writing and design of her character.  She’s way too much of a caricature.

Take this week’s episode, “The Alien Parasite Hypothesis.”  We’re expected to believe that well into her late twenties (early thirties?), Amy has never experienced sexual arousal or even known what it is.

Over the years, we’ve been expected to suspend belief plenty of times with Sheldon, as he learned plenty of basic social interactions, but for some reason, this week’s episode seemed to ask too much out of me with Amy.  Really?  She couldn’t identify such an innate thing as attraction?

All that said, we’d be lying if we didn’t say the episode made us laugh.  As ridiculous and unbelievable as the premise behind the A story was, it definitely started off from a very entertaining scene with the ladies going out, an always amazing laundry room scene between Sheldon and Penny and a funny Shamy lunch, as they attempted to dissect the symptoms together.

Once they eventually dismissed the idea of Amy having an alien parasite and settled on her being “horny,” Sheldon came up with the same conclusion any guy would: setting her up with Zack.  Well, Sheldon apparently can’t get jealous, so sure, why not?  Lord knows the man’s not going to do it himself.

We’re definitely glad Amy couldn’t go through with it.  She’s been created in a lab to be with Sheldon.  But then again, we were still happy when the experiment of hand holding with Sheldon failed.  Maybe she was made to be with no one.  In which case, what’s she really doing on this show?

The A story was silly and over-the-top.  But it surprisingly worked on us. Meanwhile, the unmemorable B-story of Wolowitz and Raj fighting for who would be the superhero and who would be the sidekick was passable.

It has jokes and broke up the A story quite well.  And it also gave the self-loathing Leonard somewhere to sit around, sulk, and hate what a nerd he is as his friends wrestled in spandex.  Poor Leonard.  It’s obvious the writers hate you as much as you hate yourself.

Overall, we’re going to give this episode a much higher rating than our words have indicated.  Why?  Because it’s a sitcom and in the end it made us laugh.

Personally, I like this episode. What about you?

Here is a good news for The Big Bang Theory fans especially the follower of Amy Farrah Fowler.

The girls are rising on The Big Bang Theory this season. The CBS comedy — which just upped costar Melissa Rauch to a full-fledged series regular — has rewarded Mayim Bialik with a similar bump. The former Blossom star made her debut as Sheldon’s quasi-girlfriend in last season’s finale and returned this fall on a recurring basis. Like Rauch, Bialik’s new deal is for this season only and — unlike the show’s central quintet — doesn’t call for her to appear in all episodes produced. Still, her promotion brings the number of female regulars on Big Bang to 3, improving the balance between the sexes on the comedy series which has 4 male regulars.
