Coming off a great episode last week, Warehouse 13 features a so-so episode this week with “Love Sick.” But don’t get me wrong, I still love it.

TV Fanatic: At the same time, though I have to keep my expectations in perspective. First and foremost, Warehouse 13 is primarily a procedural, not a heavily character driven drama. “Trials” was more the exception to the rule.

I was a bit disappointed to see Steve didn’t have a very prominent role. I guess this is where his “special guest star” billing comes into play. There was the quick joke with Pete showing off to him, after learning he was gay, and then he was quickly bronzed.

Meanwhile, the way Steve came  out to Pete and Myka was well done. Pete was Pete, he joked about it, and then everyone moved on. Everyone was cool with it. No big deal all around.

Pete and Myka’s romp through the Warehouse after the artifact ball put them in a drunken haze was fun to watch. As they worked through what exactly happened before they ended up in bed together, it felt like both of them were finding some of the rhythm they lost when Myka quit.

For the most part, this was an Artie episode. I was a little sad to see Artie give up so easily on Vanessa when she and Hugo reacquainted with each other. Yes, there was that spark between the two of them, but Artie isn’t someone who backs down. It shouldn’t, all of a sudden, be something he does because of a woman.

Yes, Artie is looking for a companion, because he’s spent so much time on his own without anyone filling that role. And yes, it’s hard to put yourself out there and be vulnerable and bring all of those dating emotions to the surface. But Artie having feelings for Vanessa doesn’t mean he needs to (potentially) give her up so easily. I was glad Claudia picked up on his insecurities and told him to be confident in the relationship he has with Vanessa.

Overall, I like this episode. Even though it was not as strong as episode 2, I still consider it as a solid one. What do you think?

Episode 2 of Warehouse 13 season 3 titled “Trials” is definitely a jam-packed one! Are you looking for extreme emotions, then this episode is for you.

TV Fanatic: The amount of ground covered in one hour felt like it was enough material for a few more weeks at least. I can only imagine how much storytelling the writers have in store for the rest of the season.

I was a little reluctant to see the team splinter off here and take on their respective missions. You can blame that bad taste in my mouth from what happened on Chuck, but I digress.

Thankfully, the separating of Pete and Myka from Claudia and Steve served its purpose beautifully.

As I said last week, I was a little disappointed the series didn’t mine very much from Mika’s departure. So I was glad to see her decision to leave and rejoin has definitely weighed her down. Can she pick up where things left off? How does she go about doing so? How does she rebuild her partnership with Pete? All those questions were answered.

Even something as simple as breakfast brought Myka’s insecurities bubbling to the surface. Especially because, to Myka, Steve has essentially taken her spot on the team. It’s hard to pick up where things left off.

In the end, I was happy to see her choose to take things one step at a time. I know it’s a rather simple thing to do (and say), but for Myka it’s a huge step in the right direction. It’s a slow process to build yourself back up emotionally for such a stressful job.

We also dealt with Pete’s insecurities – and his feelings about Myka) – via the artifact. The two had an implicit trust (and shorthand) and then Myka went ahead and acts like a few family members: she left him. It was nice to see Myka make amends to him. Now I can get back to rooting for them to hook up.

When Steve and Claudia were sent off to retrieve the knife, I was expecting some chemistry between them. I didn’t forecast Steve to come out of the closet. It wasn’t something that was even on my radar. It adds a nice wrinkle to their relationship because this guaranteed their status will remain nothing but friendship.

In hindsight, I actually prefer their friendship more so than a potential romantic pairing. I get a Jack and Jen/Dawson’s Creek vibe from the two of them.

With that out of the way, Claudia was able to open up and Steve was able to pull more out of her. Claudia worries about not having the training needed to be an Agent and, without this job, her options are limited.

It’s hard being Claudia’s age, not knowing where your life will take you. She’s in that unknowing phase between being a teenager and being an adult. It’s terrifying, and she doesn’t want to let down the surrogate father she has in Artie. It’s something a lot of us go through and I’m happy to see Claudia trying to deal with those issues.

What can you say about this episode? Are you satisfied as well?

Here are the latest spoilers for Warehouse 13 season 3. Read at your own risk, and be spoiled!

Thanks to E! Online.

Over in South Dakota, Warehouse 13 star Eddie McClintock (agent Pete Lattimer) confirms that their team will also face a new threat: “This person is big and bad,” Eddie teased without revealing the actor’s name. “Personally, for me, I’m just like, ‘What? That’s awesome!’ ‘Cause this guy has done some great work, so to be able to have him be a part of the show is pretty cool,” he teased.

Another big bad we’ll see tonight on W13 is a wacky hairstyle Pete is rocking. Fortunately, Eddie confirms that it will soon be vanquished. “I was thinking I’d do something different,” he explained, “but when I saw it on camera I hated it. So, I went back to the old style. Hopefully people will go, ‘Oh wow, he was so bummed out when Myka (Joanne Kelly) left that he wanted his hair to look s–tty.'”

While the Warehouse 13 team may have temporarily lost Myka, they welcome a new agent tonight, Steve Jinks (Aaron Ashmore), a “human lie detector” whose character also happens to be gay. “We didn’t create the character to make some political statement,” Eddie said, adding that the show benefits from Jinks’ “young male energy.” Pete’s reaction to Jinks’ revelation that he’s gay is typical and awesome, Eddie adds. “Pete’s like, ‘Really? You’re gay? That’s awesome because no one else around here appreciates how hard I work out.’ It doesn’t phase him at all—Pete’s like, ‘Dude, I don’t care what you are, we’re friends.’ And I love that about Pete.” Rest assured, fans: Jinks is not replacing Myka.

Guest Room: This season Warehouse 13 will welcome “lots of great people in lots of fun roles” sure to please sci-fi fans, said Eddie, including Star Trek’s Kate Mulgrew and Jerri Ryan as well as Caprica’s Alessandra Torresani and Sasha Ruiz. Returning guests include Lindsay Wagner [as Warehouse doctor—and Artie’s love interest—Vanessa Calder], and Trek vet Rene Auberjonois as computer expert Hugo Miller. Neil Grayston’s Fargo is also returning to the Warehouse in another Eureka crossover episode: “That is actually one of the most insane episodes of TV I have ever filmed and I cannot wait to see it,” Neil told us.

Blast From the Past: “We’re going to find out more about Pete’s backstory,” this season, Eddie promises: “Some cool stuff about Pete, and what happened to Pete, and what happened to his father, and who are the big influences in his life.”

Mixed reactions for the season 3 premiere of Warehouse 13. “The New Guy” brought some interesting aspects that will produce certain effects or consequences as this season go through. So what else happened?

TV Fanatic: I wasn’t sure how I would feel about Agent Steve Jinks and what that would mean to the rather established surrogate family we’ve come to know over the past two seasons on Warehouse 13.

Especially because he was, essentially, replacing Myka.

But when it all came to a close, I was happy with how everything was handled. Granted, it might also have been because Joanne Kelly was including in the opening title card. Not exactly the best way to keep viewers guessing.

Getting back to Jinks, I have to applaud Warehouse 13. It was the right time to add some new blood to the mix, and Steve is the perfect candidate for the job. It fee;s like he’s been around since the beginning. Aaron Ashmore stepped in perfectly to the role.
Steve served a few purposes in this episode. He gave new viewers a great jumping off point, as we were reintroduced to the show and what it’s about. He also gave a voice to the audience, stating many of our opinions and thoughts on the current scene.

I’m not sure how his power will be used (or misused) in the future. Let’s hope it’s kept mainly to the cases and left more or less alone with our merry band of agents. At the same time, though, the fact that he can tell when someone is lying feels like it could take away from some of the investigations.

I’m so very glad Myka is back, however. I’ve been wondering for almost a year just how she was going to be resolved. And while I’m not sure I entirely agree with how she re-entered the picture, I do agree with H.G. Wells: just because Myka’s job was sometimes not the greatest thing in the world, causing her to harbor some feelings she didn’t entirely like, that doesn’t mean she needs to let that dominate her life.

This fear only made her stray from the things she was good at: her job, making the world a better place. Not tiny potatoes by a long shot.

That brings us to Claudia and Artie. I’m happy to report the things that I love so much about them are still very much intact. I was curious to see how much would shift with this surrogate father/daughter. While there is a much greater respect between the two of them, there’s still plenty of bantering and a dry sense of humor, as well.

Warehouse 13 season 3 will premiere this Monday. But before we start the season, let’s first see what can we expect from the characters especially on Myka Bering.

Here is an interview with Joanne Kelly courtesy of IGN:

Myka is of course the kick-ass Warehouse agent with a tendency to be a bookworm. The character has progressed a lot in the past two seasons, and so has the show itself. We spoke with Joanne about the role, her castmates, and where the show is headed for its third season.

Kelly was jovial and energetic the day we spoke to her, despite a hectic shooting schedule as the cast and crew filmed the second-to-last episode of the season. “Five months of getting up at 4am is starting to get me,” she said as she laughed about it. With the production run for the season almost over, she described it as feeling, “like being in high school during the week before summer.”

he big addition to Season 3 is the inclusion of Aaron Ashmore as agent Steve Jinks. “He’s lovely,” Kelly said. “He’s such a great guy, and such a great actor.” She went on to give a few more details about how Jinks will grow into the team as he bonds with Claudia.

“He’s kind of like her Pete,” Kelly said. “Not in the same way, but they really grow to have an affection for each other, and I think he’s a really nice fit for the show.”

Last season’s finale left us on a cliffhanger as Myka left the Warehouse crew after being betrayed by H.G. Wells, the season’s main antagonist. Many fans were worried about how long Myka would be gone, but they won’t have to wait forever to see Myka back in action. “That would have been exhausting for all of us,” Kelly said. “This season is so huge! I’m so glad we resolved it quickly because we have other things to do. I wanted to get back to work, and I think Myka wanted to too.”

The series also isn’t totally done with the H.G. Wells character, portrayed by actress Jamie Murray. Besides rumors of an H.G. Wells spinoff in the works, you’ll see her again in Warehouse 13 this season. “I’m a big fan of Jamie’s,” Kelly said. “It can get weird with actresses, as there’s a lot of passive aggressiveness out there, but not with her. And for Myka, it’s nice to have somebody that she can go toe-to-toe with.”

Kelly has become increasingly comfortable with her character, and has integrated a lot of herself into the role, as Myka grew from a serious, by-the-book agent to a more relaxed person. “She’s evolved a lot,” she said of Myka. “And I think I went from portraying a character, to relaxing more and just being myself. A lot of people like her more now, but I liked her more when she was more of a bitch, because I think that’s more realistic. Human beings aren’t likable all the time.”

Kelly gave much credit to executive producer Jack Kenny for helping her relax into her role and manage the tough work schedule. “Jack Kenny is like our dad,” she said. “He keeps the family together.”

And she certainly does consider her coworkers family, especially her co-star Eddie McClintock, who plays Pete Lattimer. “He’s like my best friend,” she said. “I see him more than anyone else…in the world…ever. I never spend this much time even with my family!”

It’s clear Kelly is humble and thankful for having a starring role in a show that’s survived through its third season. “It’s been more clear to me how much of a blessing this is, more so this year than the last,” Kelly said of this season, which she calls her favorite so far. “I’ve never done a show for this long, and there’s an evolution and learning process of learning about acting and not getting lazy. I feel lucky to find something I want to work on every season, and in every scene.”
