In this age, we have come so far in terms of technological advances in both for personal and business uses. Ranging from the big, impractical computers, to a seven inch tablet. Hardware specifications have also gone high and are being more cost-effective and smaller in size. For example, back then external storage were very heavy to carry around and it only had 2-20 mb (megabytes)! Now, you can have almost 2 tb (terrabytes) in the palm of your hand, or have more or less 32 gb (gigabytes) of memory in your pocket in the form of flash drives. Mobile computing innovated through the years, especially with the release of tablets. No it’s not the medicine, but they are “mini computers” who have touchscreen monitors as the source of input from the user. Micorsoft was the first to introduce this kind of technology but it did not sell that well. Apple changed the playing field when it released their first tablet, the iPad, which was running on thier own iOS. In response, Google made an open source, java based operating system, which was later called Android, to compete in the market with iOS. Since it was open source, Android was used as an Operating system for their own tablets. This meant that these tablets would be a lot more cheaper than the iPad.

Google’s $99 Nexus 7 Tablet

Google unveiled the $199 Nexus 7 tablet back in June. The tablet comes with 7-inch IPS display screen with a 1280×800 resolution and is powered by 1.3GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor. Other features of the tablet include 1GB RAM, 1.2-megapixel front camera and 4325mAh battery.

Initially, a variant of the tablet with 8GB storage was being sold for $199, but the model was recently discontinued in favour of the 16GB variant at the same price. Google also added a 32GB variant of the Wi-Fi only tablet for $249, while a 3G variant with 32GB storage was also introduced for $299.

Google is now planning to move the price point lower than the $199 model. Ultimately bringing it down to a price of $99. Now that is really something! Let us take a look at the specs.

It would run on a 1Ghz (giga hertz) processor, 1 gb (gigabyte) of ram, 400MHz (mega hertz)  Mali GPU, 7-inch 1024×600 display, 1-megapixel front camera and a microSD card slot. It will run on either the Android 4.1 or 4.2, the “Jellybean” OS.
