Gangnam Style: It’s More Fun in Baguio!

Yet another video using Gangnam Style as the background music. Getting old? Maybe, but this video is rather special, especially to the students of Saint Louis University in Baguio and to the residents in Baguio City. The reason being is, the backdrop of the music video made was set in Baguio and the main person who was dancing was Gene Zafra, a college student in SLU, taking up Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT). It was videotapped by Myrjam Hannah Mercado and Ziggy Watanabe and was edited by Kyrke Jaleco, all classmates and friends of Gene Zafra.

The video starts off with the same way the original video goes except for that this time, it’s not beside a beach, obviously since Baguio is in within a mountain range, but inside a house. The effect is really cool that it gives off an illusion that he is outside at night time.  The actor/dancer in the video, Gene Zafra, really committed to the project, dancing around some of the crowded places in Baguio, like Session Road. It was really fun to watch. Just by watching the video, smiles can be produced, laughs can be heard and yet having the feeling of being proud, especially that the people who created the video are just college students, not professionals! He wears a yellow green “tank top” and an orange “short shorts” at some parts of the video and at some parts he wears the casual shirt and shorts. And to top it off, shades making him look much like PSY in the original video, somehow. After you have watched the video, Gene show you how to dance Gangnam style in a very funny way. The backdrop of the video showed some of the most iconic and visited places in Baguio City, like Session road, Porta Vaga, Cathedral and among many others.

I am an IT student in the same University as he is and I have seen him perform. He’s really a good entertainer. He also performed in the School of Computing and Information Sciences (SCIS) variety show called Plug ‘n Play, singing multiple songs together with some of the instructors of the said school. Go watch the video and be proud. Be proud of the fact that Filipinos are really good entertainers. As what the description says, Gene Zafra is truly the PSY of Baguio.
