After long years of waiting, Google is now setting its fifth stage on Southeast Asian region in the Philippines, following consecutive establishment of bases in Malaysia, Thailand, and most recently Indonesia over the past several years, aside from its regional Singapore office. Google launched the opening of Google Philippines Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Taguig City’s upscale McKinley Hill Village. Soon it will open its official office in Makati City. During the launching of Google Philippines Julian Persaud, Managing Director of Google in Southeast Asia, stated in the press-conference that Google’s presence will stay “long term”. He also added that “The Philippines is a key country in Southeast Asia in terms of its digital economy. Over 33 million Filipinos access the Internet regularly. And Internet use in the Philippines is set to grow exponentially. Research indicates that the number of Filipinos online will have nearly doubled by 2016,”, which will eventually be the start of more growing online business in the Philippines whether it is local or global. The presence of Government Undersecretary Manuel L. Quezon III, representative of President Noynoy Aquino is being acknowledge showing their support for this project.
As stated earlier, Google has already started screening its applicants for their respective job titles. Last year, on the month of November Narciso Reyes is appointed as the Google’s head of sales for the Philippines. As to the official start of job hiring in Google Philippines, the day we’ve all been waiting for will be posted in Google’s site ASAP.
