Hey fast food toy fanatics, here is another vintage McDonald’s Happy Meal Toys… the Island Getaway!
This set was originally released in Japan in 1996 and was named “McIsland.” The set includes four McDonald’s characters in their island adventure design. The toys are as follows:
- Fry Guys inside a tiki pole
- Birdie fishing
- Ronald on a hammock under a palm tree
- Grimace hula dancing
Luckily, I was able to purchase this McDonald’s vintage set for only $1 in a thrift shop. It was not an easy task but digging through boxes of toys turned out to be fun specially if you can find sets like this.
I hope McDonald’s will release other character-based happy meal toys this year. The movie tie-in toys are great but I think we need the McDo characters back. So what do you think these toys? Do you have your own vintage fast food toys to share?
