Have you seen Erik Matti’s ‘Honor thy Father’ yet?
It has been a tradition for me and my beau to see at least one entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival in support of the Philippine Film Industry. This year, we are really looking forward to seeing ‘Honor thy Father.’ To us, it is one of those movies which is worth one’s precious time and penny basing it from reviews, trailers and the the previous works (read: On the Job) of the team which created it.
However, to no surprise, local cinema houses at our place (read: Pampanga), chose not to include the film in their roster of movies to be screened for the 2015 MMFF. We asked a sales clerk if their cinema house intend to screen ‘Honor Thy Father.’ She said no, and blatantly added that they were after the revenue a movie generates; that to them, ‘Honor thy Father’ is no match to the top grossing films of the festival in terms of income generation.
Fortunately, just today, we learned that Robinsons Starmills Pampanga took the leap. Kudos to Robinsons Starmills Pampanga for a job well done. We should not let this chance slip away!
