We finally met Henrietta “Etta” Bishop on Fringe season 4 episode 19 titled “Letters of Transit.” *Warning* Do not continue reading if you haven’t watched “Letters of Transit.” Spoilers ahead.
Etta, played by Georgina Haig, and Simon ((Henry Ian Cusick) are members of the new Fringe team. They released Walter Bishop from the amber. Later in the episode, another two members of the team were saved, Astrid and Peter. With the settings set on 2036, Etta and Simon were trying to release the former Fringe team to save the world from The Observers takeover.
What happened in the past was described in the opening scene:
They came from the future.
At first, they only watched.
Arriving at key moments in human history.
We called them OBSERVERS.
But in 2015 they stopped watching… and seized control.
Citizen uprisings proved bloody and futile.
Those who survived became known as “Natives.”
In an attempt to show their allegiance some Native factions became “Loyalists” and were marked by the Observers.
The original FRINGE TEAM fought the invasion but was quickly defeated.
FRINGE DIVISION was allowed to continue at a reduced capacity, but only to police the Natives.
The resistance was quickly overcome… or so they thought.
So can we now call Etta The Daughter?
By the way William Bell is back but not for long as he was in amber and Walter sliced his hand. There is also a new key Observer named “Windmark.” And about Broyles, I think he is still on the side of the natives and he still sees hope especially upon seeing Walter’s candy.
What about the dented bullet attached on Etta’s necklace? Is that the bullet that killed Olivia? Is Olivia even dead or just in amber? I think let us just wait for the next episodes of Fringe season 4.
