Mysteries, fun and excitement. These describe what I felt while watching Ringer season 1 episode 3 titled “If You Ever Want a French Lesson…” Let’s discuss.

TV Fanatic: We start off with Siobhan, who has assumed a new identity. As Cora Farrell, she picks up Tyler at a bar, telling the international banker to meet her at her hotel “If You Ever Want a French Lesson.” But poor Tyler doesn’t get very far. Things were looking rather promising until suddenly Siobhan was and shoving him off the bed and out the door.

At first, I’m thinking perhaps she’s having second thoughts. Not quite. Siobhan’s nauseous and that’s when it hits me. Siobhan doesn’t know that she’s pregnant. That’s what makes this show so interesting. Trying to remember who knows what about whom takes all of my attention.

The most telling part is what Siobhan does as she holds the positive pregnancy test. She calls Henry and simply listens to his voice. So I’m guessing that means Siobhan believes that Henry is the father of her child and that she actually cares about him.
That little revelation makes me wonder if Andrew knows he’s NOT the father because that will certainly come back to bite Bridget at some point. Well, that and the fact that she isn’t really pregnant. I keep waiting for her to address that issue but I guess having armed assassins after her is a bit more pressing.

Taking the phone back from the bench is a gutsy move on Bridget’s part, but she must figure that phone is her only leverage with whoever is after her.

So… do you think Andrew is really hiding something from her when it comes to the building at 227 Pratt? Everyone is keeping so many secrets it’s hard to tell.

Meanwhile, Bridget’s apology at the end was heartfelt. I believe she has really grown to care for Andrew and she’d like to make it work, but it’s unclear if Bridget is thinking in the moment or long term.

And what about Malcolm’s predicament?!? He’s the one guy who’s done nothing wrong but is paying the highest price. It’s a nice touch when the bad guys are so busy beating the crap out of him that they don’t realize his phone is going off.  I kept wondering how long he could hold out. And then they pumped him full of drugs. I think the game is over for poor Malcolm.

Want some more spoilers for Rigner season 1? Check more details about Bridget and Andrew below.

Executive producer Eric Charmelo tells TV Guide that:

“Someone may have it figured out [about Bridget pretending to be Siobhan] already and you just may not know. Everybody is playing everybody and it becomes a mental chess game. Just because you have a piece of leverage doesn’t mean somebody else has something that couldn’t trump your card.”

In other news, Ioan Gruffudd (Andrew) recently spoke with EW and here’s what he had to say.

“On the page in the pilot, there wasn’t much to Andrew. He’s kind of an ambiguous character. So I spoke to the creators and they pitched an amazing arc for the series and my character. I was blown away, and I was overwhelmed by their interest in me to play this part.”

Referring to Siobhan’s affair with her best friend’s husband (Kristoffer Polaha), Gruffudd says,

“Seeing that my wife is sleeping with someone else, I feel I should get some action somewhere else, as well.”

What can you say about this?

Last night’s Ringer brought us deeper into Bridget’s lies. So what did we see on “She’s Ruining Everything?” Let’s discuss them all below.

TV Fanatic: First off: thank goodness Bridget deleted that message to Malcolm. Confessing to a murder via voicemail is never a a smart idea. I’d ask what she was thinking, but given that she just shot and killed her attacker, I’ll give her this moment of stupidity.

Even telling Malcolm seemed very foolish. I know she’s all alone in this and she’s looking for an ally but anyone could be listening.

My favorite part was watching poor petite Bridget drag that body across the floor, leaving a huge blood smear across the concrete. I hope she bought the value size bottle of bleach. However, I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see her try and haul that 200-plus pound body into the trunk. Now that could have been entertaining.
And why would Andrew think the loft was the perfect place for a party? I suppose he was in a bind, but the place was a construction zone. Little did he know about the added bonus of a decomposing body in the corner.

The body in the trunk was a nice touch during the party scene, but eventually it’s going to start to smell. And it was certainly disconcerting having Agent Machado walk up as Bridget was moping up a dead man’s blood.

The flashbacks were obviously meant to give us some insight into Bridget’s past but I found Siobhan’s scene the most interesting. She was fed up with her sister, yet wasn’t nearly as cold and certainly didn’t have the money she has now. Perhaps both came with her marriage.

Slowly, Bridget’s going to care more and more about her new “family” and that will make things even more complicated. Heck, it already has. And at some point she’ll have to deal with the fact that she isn’t actually pregnant. I’m looking forward to her dealing with that twist.

I couldn’t say that I cared much about Malcolm other than he’s her one link to her past. Correction: there’s a second link, the gun she used to kill a man. That fact will definitely come back to haunt her if whoever now has the body decides to analyze the bullet.

Finally, we got another look at Siobhan in Paris. Tough break when your doppleganger sister steals your secret stash. Was Siobhan’s plan to kill her siblinh and make the world believe she was dead, therefore having a clean slate with which to start over?

Too many questions. What can you say about episode 2 of Ringer?

It’s good to see Sarah Michelle Gellar back in the small screen. And the pilot episode of Ringer is no ordinary one. So, it was a great come back for her!

TV Fanatic: Playing twins, Gellar is everywhere in this “pilot”and she pulls off the dual role well. First, we have Bridget, six months sober, an ex-exotic dancer who witnessed a murder. Fearing for her life, she ditches her FBI handlers and heads off to see her twin sister.

I can’t blame Bridget for being afraid. The Double Nickel Motel doesn’t look like the height of security and if tiny little Bridget is able to take down Jimmy, her FBI handler, I can’t imagine he’d be much of a match for professional killers.

Then there’s Siobhan, a socialite with the handsome husband, upscale beach house, Manhattan loft and all the toys that go along with it. But, of course, things are not as simple and content as they appear.

Poor Bridget jumps from the frying pan into the fire. After briefly reconnecting with her estranged sis, Siobhan drugs her and disappears from their boat. Is this a suicide, an accident, or an escape? After a six-year absence, Bridget can’t possibly know, but in a moment of pure survival instinct, she decides to become Siobhan.

Bridget’s biggest mistake is calling Malcolm, her AA sponsor (and possible boyfriend) and telling him what she’s done. I know she’s scared and lonely and feels like she has to tell someone, but this moment of impulsiveness could be her undoing. The rest of it seems all too easy because Siobhan hasn’t told anyone in her life she has a twin – but Bridget quickly learns there’s plenty about Siobhan she doesn’t know, either.

Like that she’s in a loveless marriage and sleeping with her best friend’s husband. Or, who is the father of her unborn child? But, wait, we have to remember that it isn’t Bridget who’s pregnant, it’s Siobhan and this is Bridget playing Siobhan. Following along?

And that’s half the fun of Ringer, trying to keep up with the constantly spinning web of lies. I keep wondering if it’s even possible for Andrew, Siobhan’s husband, to be the father of her baby because they’re barely on speaking terms, except in public.  Will Henry, her lover, keep his mouth shut? And does Gemma already know her best friend is sleeping with her husband?

Oh, and back to the fact that this is Bridget – pretending to be a knocked up Siobhan – is NOT actually pregnant. How will she deal with that little, flat-stomached obstacle?

When Bridget is attacked (and did Gemma set that up?!?) we’re quick to assume it’s her criminal past. But not so fast, folks. Why is there a picture of Siobhan in the dead attacker’s pocket? And what the heck is Bridget going to do about a dead body shot with an FBI agent’s gun?

Overall, we saw that Ringer is a bit complicated yet engaging. So I will stick with this TV show and let’s see what will happen next.
