Maybe this is not the best season premiere of Futurama. Nevertheless, I enjoyed “Neutopia” and I’m definitely fine with it.
TV Fanatic: Once again, Planet Express was under some type of predicament, this time foreclosure. In response? Conrad had the brilliant idea of actually paying the mortgage. Such a simple solution, it just might work!
To pay off the debt on “Neutopia,” the men decided to have a Girl of the Month calendar, while the women through they should use the ship as an airline. In the end, they didn’t have enough females and the airline idea had them crash-landing in a gender-neutral rock planet.
While the stereotypical jokes between genders have grown a bit tired over the years, much of what Futurama does is in the delivery. Putting its unique spin on things can even make the most tired jokes funny again.
It was fun to watch the men and women bicker, but I wish the gender swap lasted a little longer than a few minutes. It was easily the best part of the episode and it’s only plot device was to take semi pornographic pictures and pay off Planet Express’ debt.
But I did enjoy Bender covering himself provocatively in oil for his picture; it’s such typical Bender. I’ve missed it.
