October 29 is the set date for the last installment of the Saw franchise, the Saw 3D. Lionsgate is pulling out all the stops in the viral marketing department to promote the hell out of Jigsaw’s swan song.
The viral marketing onslaught begins with BobbyDagen.com, the blog of Jigsaw victim Bobby Dagen (played by Young Indiana Jones himself, Sean Patrick Flanery). He survived one of Jigsaw’s (Tobin Bell) tests and has since written a book about his experiences. He’s also speaking out about it via Facebook, and Twitter. There’s also a site for The Survivors of Jigsaw, which will introduce new survivors there weekly.
Fans can also take the “Challenge” over at the official Saw Facebook page for a chance to win free tickets to Saw 3D — or an actual trap from the film!
Finally, Lionsgate, Twisted Pictures and RealD have teamed for the nationwide “Saw Fan Appreciation Night” on Thursday, October 28. Participating theaters will be offering limited edition Saw 3D glasses (which have “I SAW IT FIRST 10.28.10” on them) for those purchasing admission to 8pm, 10pm, and midnight shows on the 28th. Tickets to Saw Fan Appreciation Night are now available for purchase at Fandango.com.
