There are lots of reactions from the fans over the decision to change the title of the upcoming Saw VII to Saw 3D The Traps Come Alive. So to clear things up, ShockTillYouDrop spoke to producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules and had them explain why they chose the new (and much maligned) title.
“The title of the movie is Saw 3D,” Burg told the site. Koules explained that the rest of the title is a tagline.
It’s a tagline that was added in and misinterpreted. Most of our movies have taglines. One of the things we talked about during the campaign — especially with shooting in the 3D process, the traps really do come alive and we wanted that clear in the campaign. But the title of the film is Saw 3D.
It was such a process in 3D, so much hard work was put in. Saw VII 3D is too much. This is like a new movie. There are, I think, eleven traps in this movie. To have that many traps, it’s just a completely different experience for the hardcore fans.
Burg thinks that the tagline is important for those that may be too literal when looking at the title “Saw 3D.”
The only reason there is a tagline, is we didn’t want to confuse people and make them think we re-did the original Saw in 3D. This is brand-new 3D technology. We talked about shooting six and then converting it in 3D, but we didn’t like the quality of it.
